Introductory Information Please read for an invitation.

The Rotary E-Club of the Caribbean, 7020 is actively recruiting new members – Rotarians who would find the E-club more suitable for their needs than the traditional Rotary club.

Our E-Club has already initiated its first project, even though we are only a provisional club, and we are partnered as well with the Rotary E-Club of District 9220 in Mauritius.  We are on our way to great things!

The Rotary E-Club of the Caribbean, 7020 will operate in the same way as a normal Rotary club.  Attendance requirements are set by Rotary International.  To earn a make-up, one must attend 30 minutes online – though we hope that all our members will plan to attend the entire meeting because of the interesting and educational information that is published in every single meeting posted.

Our meeting website:  http://www.rotaryeclub7020.blogspot.com

Attendance.  To maintain membership in the E-Club, a minimum attendance of 12 hours every quarter year (3 months) will be required.

One of the goals of our E-Club will be to strive for 100 per cent attendance.  We hope that members will make an effort in that regard.  As provisional president, I believe that that goal is entirely achievable because we offer a flexibility to attend the meetings at any time during the day or night during the week.

Fellowship.  We  offer a weekly Happy Hour Hangout (HHH) where members can get together in real time, face-to-face, through GoToMeeting.  It’s an excellent way to get to know – and have fun with – the other members of our E-Club.

  • The link to the HHH is provided at the end of the weekly meeting, and is noted in an email sent out to all members on Friday mornings when each new meeting is uploaded.
  • The HHH is optional, but it is fun for those who do attend.
  • You can earn a make-up by attending the HHH.

We have also started a second HHH on a Wednesday evening – in addition to the Saturday morning Hangout.  The purpose is to accommodate all members in this fellowship activity.

  • The number of available HHHs will perhaps increase as we increase our membership numbers.
  • The HHH is an excellent chance for fellowship with our fellow club members!
  • The HHH provides a small-group participation for sharing and getting to know one another.

District Conference.  We also hope that our members may plan to attend the annual District 7020 Conference where we can get together as a club for a special get-together and enjoy true felowship.  The 2013-14 District Conference will be held in the Cayman Islands from April 29 through to May 4.  The Conference is a time when we can really understand the true nature of Rotary, learn many new things, and meet many new friends.

Committees/Teams

Rotary International suggests the following committees for Rotary Clubs:

  • Club Administration. Conducts activities associated with the effective operation of the club.
  • Membership. Develops and implements a comprehensive plan for the recruitment and retention of members.
  • Public Relations. Develops and implements plans to provide the public with information about Rotary and to promote the club’s service projects and activities.
  • Service Projects. Develops and implements educational, humanitarian, and vocational projects that address the needs of its community and communities in other countries.
  • Rotary Foundation. Develops and implements plans to support The Rotary Foundation through both financial contributions and program participation.

Additional ad hoc committees may be appointed as needed.

Our E-Club Teams.  The goal is to set up a number of “teams” within the club structure to carry out the club’s business activities and projects.  Members can work within that small-group structure to achieve progress according to the goals of Rotary.

Teams considered essential to the club’s well-being include:

  • Service Projects/fund-raising
  • Club Administration/meetings/monthly themes
  • Foundation information and support
  • Training/Education/Public Image
  • Membership/Fellowship

Members should expect to become part of a team and communicate regularly with other members of their team(s).   Members may consider forming teams with those who attend a particular HHH regularly.

  • Working as part of a team will allow members to truly get to know one another.
  • Teams will work together and communicate frequently - perhaps at the HHH.
  • Members may be part of several teams – not limiting themselves to one team only.
Sharing of ideas.  The sharing of ideas and the ownership of the club is important for everyone.
  • It is important that the E-club is YOUR club.
  • It is important that you feel that you are part of something very worthwhile.

An effective Rotary Club has these characteristics:

  • Membership.  Sustains or increases their membership base.
  • Projects.  Implements successful service projects in their community and communities in other countries.
  • The Rotary Foundation (TRF).  Supports TRF both financially and through program participation.
  • Leaders.  Develops leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level.

Dues.  Our club dues will be roughly $200 U.S. per year, payable semi-annually on the first day of July and of January, with the understanding that a portion of each semi-annual payment shall be applied to each member’s subscription to the RI official magazine.  Our dues payments will be made online through PayPal.  A credit card payment is a viable means of payment using PayPal.  Dues information will be written into our Club Bylaws.

Membership fee.  The purpose of the one-time $25 admission fee will be to cover administration costs and to serve as a commitment from each member to become a charter member of the E-Club.

There are no additional fees because we don’t have weekly meals to pay for.  We do, however, hope that all members will be agree to support The Rotary Foundation (TRF) in the Every Rotary Every Year (EREY)  program.  Our goal is that all members will be able to donate $100 US to TRF each year.  That is an individual decision, however.

Member Involvement.  Rotarians may be members of only one Rotary club at a time.  However,  E-Club members can certainly attend others clubs as visitors – as is the right and privilege of all Rotarians worldwide.  It is the best of all possible worlds!

Yours in Rotary “Service Above Self,”
